Fluffy Dumplings

These dumplings are a treat with the Chicken and Dumplings recipe. Can also
be dropped into hot beef gravy for another taste delight.

Fluffy Dumplings



  • 1½  cups plain flour
  • 3   teaspoon baking powder
  • ¾   teaspoon salt
  • 1 level tablespoon of dried parsley flakes
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil



Double recipe for Chicken and Dumplings)

Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl.

In a large cup or small bowl, combine milk and salad oil; add to dry ingredients, stirring until just moistened.

Drop batter from tablespoon atop slowly bubbling stew or chicken stock making sure all dumplings are approximately the same size. Gently turn dumplings over once and then bring liquid back to a slow bubbling boil.

Cover tightly, and immediately reduce heat to simmer (do not lift cover); simmer 15 to 20 minutes or until done.
