Bob and I have had quite a weekend. We attended a conference in Fort Mill, SC this past weekend and stayed in the Hilton Garden Inn in Rock Hill, SC. We have been busy, busy and thank goodness our accommodations were excellent. I must say the breakfasts were surprisingly above excellent, at least a 4.5 star meal. Think indulgence to the max. Think down home delicious in a restaurant. Think “I’m not going to skip breakfast today!” The Great American Grill chefs, Scott and Chris put on quite a spread. Scrambled eggs, two kinds of sausage, perfectly crisp bacon, yummy grits (very southern dish), fluffy biscuits, hot oatmeal, make your own waffles, yogurt treats, fresh fruit, pastries, coffee, juices, and milk. That was the basics, there are also on-request pancakes, French Toast, and omelets, plus more. Each day there is a specialty item in addition to the regular menu, the first day we had chicken fried steak with cream gravy and the next we had southern fried chicken. The restaurant is open and attractive, very clean and inviting, the service impeccable with the waitresses attentive to our every possible need. Being a breakfast lover I was in heaven, and ate more than I should. It was a delight to get up to such a wonderful meal so I succumbed to temptation day after day and so did Bob. I think I need to walk home to Texas now. If you are ever in the area, please stop in and check out the Hilton Garden Inn, Great American Grill and Chefs Scott and Chris (pictures). You will be glad you did. The Grill is open to the general public so anyone can stop in for breakfast, and be sure to tell them Down Home Delicious sent you.
